Job Description
Successful applicants will be experienced teachers committed to designing dynamic, engaging, hands-on, student-centered classes that go beyond textbooks. The Summer Scholars program is designed to mimic boarding school life, with a focus on the Harkness Teaching method.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Current or former teacher with at least 3-years teaching experience at the secondary level (grades 6 - 12)
- Experience facilitating collaborative, discussion-based classes (Harkness method preferred)
- Subject matter expertise
- Knowledge/ability to create a student-centered, project/problem-based learning environment
- Proven ability to connect with Scholars ages 11-15
- Ability to implement the Harkness teaching method
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
