Job Description
The UMass Memorial Police Officer position is responsible for enforcing policies and laws, conducting investigations, and promoting crime prevention. The officer will also make lawful arrests and provide court testimony when necessary. This is a night shift position, 40 hours a week, and may have a signing bonus available.
Requirements
- Equivalent to high school education plus addition specialized courses
- Entry level candidates will be required to attend a full-time police academy authorized by the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee
- Academy trained and entry level officers must be able to obtain certification as a law enforcement officer by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) and through the Massachusetts State Police (SSPO)
- First Responder, Driver’s License, OCAT and in-service classes required
- Class A license to carry firearms in Massachusetts required
- CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire/transfer into this job as a condition of employment
