The University of Birmingham is seeking a Baskerville Operations and Resource Manager to maximize the success of Baskerville, a leading GPU accelerated National Compute Resource. The role involves coordinating aspects of Baskerville's operation and resources, identifying potential issues, and communicating with technical, administrative, and research colleagues.
Requirements
- Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus significant relevant practical experience
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly for a variety of audiences
- Authoritative knowledge of the work practices, processes, and procedures relevant to the role
- Relevant experience supporting technical teams with administrative, financial, or operational matters, ideally within a University or research environment
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate information clearly
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Effective customer and stakeholder relationship management
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Data and reporting literacy, with confidence working with spreadsheets, dashboards, or monitoring tools
- Experience in process improvement or change management
- Ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders, including committee chairs, directors, and UKRI representatives
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Awareness of HPC or research computing environments (desirable)
- Self-motivated learner committed to ongoing professional development
- Knowledge of Higher Education, research culture, and associated governance processes
- Familiarity with ITIL principles would be an advantage
- Experience of championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in own work area
