Commodity Manager

Role Overview

The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing multi-year sourcing strategies for assigned direct material categories to ensure cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and technical capability in support of business objectives. This role leads strategic sourcing, supplier performance, and cost optimization initiatives across key commodities such as metals, plastics, packaging, rubber, and select finished components.

What You Will Do

Develop and execute category strategies for assigned commodities, lead supplier negotiations, source and qualify financially stable suppliers, procure direct materials, and coordinate schedule changes and constraints.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in high volume direct materials commodity management, purchasing/procurement and/or materials management in a manufacturing environment
• Experience buying raw materials such as brass, stainless steel, and/or copper, plastic injection molding, packaging, and/or finished assemblies
• Working knowledge of MRP-driven purchasing and inventory management
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (advanced Excel)
• Strong negotiation, communication, and executive-level presentation skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; ERP experience required (JDE or SAP preferred)
