Grid Modernization Engineer II

Role Overview

The Grid Modernization Staff Engineer will serve as a technical resource within EPE’s Distribution and Grid Modernization team. This role is focused on working on complex utility projects, conducting advanced analysis associated with locational value of DER and flexible interconnection, and delivering actionable recommendations that help utilities modernize their distribution systems and prepare for a high-DER future.

What You Will Do

Work on the implementation of grid modernization projects, including Locational Value DER assessment, Flexible interconnection roadmap and implementations, ADMS/DERMS integration, DER orchestration, and standards such as IEEE 1547 – 2018, IEEE 2030.5.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• 2-3 years of relevant experience
• Robust technical knowledge of DER integration, interconnection standards, and grid modernization topics
• Familiarity with advanced grid modernization solutions
• Familiarity with relevant IEEE standards
• Familiarity with distribution planning and modeling software packages
• Familiarity with operational control tools
• Beginner level computer programming skills
• Proven team player with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Capable of managing multiple tasks
• Flexibility and adaptability in the face of new challenges and projects
