Hirebase vs TheirStack: which job data API is better?

Teams look past TheirStack when they need the jobs themselves rather than tech-stack signals: its two largest sources are Indeed and LinkedIn, it publishes no active-job count, and every repeat fetch is charged again. Hirebase reads employers' own career pages and ATS instead. Here is how they compare.

#1 · Our Pick

Hirebase logoHirebasethe TheirStack alternative for job data.

Best for: Job boards, sales teams that prospect by hiring activity, and AI agent builders who need fresh jobs from the employer's own page.

TheirStack counts what job boards show. Hirebase reads the employer's own career page or ATS, so a closed job leaves the index within the hour and each record links to the real posting. On Topaz Labs in October 2026, that meant 5 open jobs, matching its Lever board, where TheirStack listed 69.

From api.hirebase.org on October 23, 2026, trimmed to three fields per job. Topaz Labs' Lever board listed the same 5 open jobs.

Quality by design. We deliberately don't index jobs that exist only on job boards. Listings reposted across Indeed, Glassdoor, Adzuna, Monster and the rest are where stale, agency and duplicate jobs pile up.

“We've used the Hirebase API as the core data source for RevOpsCareers for a while now, syncing jobs automatically every day. What stands out is the reliability — the API just works, run after run — and the quality of the data, which is structured well enough that we can ingest, dedupe, and categorize thousands of listings without constant babysitting.”

Trade-offs

Switching from TheirStack: what you gain and give up.

You gain

  • Jobs from the employer's own page, with a direct link, instead of Indeed and LinkedIn copies
  • Closed jobs removed every hour, not “probably closed”
  • $999 for 2M jobs a month instead of $2,300
  • Semantic search, resume matching, visa sponsorship and a Hiring Manager agent

You give up

  • Company technology profiles (51.6M company–technology pairs)
  • Webhooks, an MCP server and a Claude plugin, shipping today
  • Jobs posted only on job boards, which Hirebase skips by design
  • A $49 entry plan for a few thousand jobs a month
  • TheirStack's published series reaches back to November 2022; Hirebase's to 2023
Read The Fine Print

What TheirStack's docs, its app and a spot check show about its data.

Each point links to its source, checked October 21, 2026.
  • A spot check: 69 jobs against 5

On October 21, 2026, TheirStack's app listed 69 open jobs for Topaz Labs (job closed: no; posted in the last 2 years), including roles that are no longer open and one role listed twice. Topaz Labs' own Lever board listed 5, and the Hirebase API returned the same 5 on October 23. One example, not a statistic.

  • A null closed_at can mean “we don’t know yet”

Its webhook docs say a null closed_at “means the job is still considered open (or we don’t know yet)”.
    Source: theirstack.com/docs/webhooks/event-type/webhook_job_closed
  • Indeed and LinkedIn are its largest sources

Its sources page lists indeed.com with 150M jobs (39.87%) and linkedin.com with 72M (19.11%). A job can carry several sources.
    Source: theirstack.com/en/docs/data/job/sources
  • Repeat fetches and webhooks are charged

“Repeated requests for the same data will consume credits each time”, and a webhook event costs the same as an API record: 1 credit per job.
    Source: theirstack.com/en/docs/pricing/credits
  • “Mode” at H&M

Its technology page lists 90,026 companies using Mode, the BI tool, led by Deichmann, H&M and KIABI at “High confidence”. In German and French job ads, “Mode” means fashion.
    Source: theirstack.com/en/technology/mode
  • “Drift” at the Danish Armed Forces

Its Drift page lists 49,341 companies, led by Forsvaret, Københavns Kommune and Oslo kommune. In Danish and Norwegian, “drift” means operations.

Ask TheirStack before you buy

  • How many of your jobs are active today, rather than collected since launch?
  • For my target companies, what share of jobs come from Indeed or LinkedIn rather than the employer's own page?
  • How do you decide a job has closed, and how often is it re-checked?
How We Evaluated

Method and sources.

Hirebase is our product, so we kept to facts a buyer can check. We read each vendor's own pricing, product and documentation pages on October 21, 2026, and did not use other comparison articles. Coverage figures are each vendor's own claims. Per-1,000 prices are our arithmetic on published list prices, before annual discounts.

We compared:

  • Where the jobs come from: employer career pages and ATS, or job boards
  • Freshness: how fast new jobs appear and closed jobs disappear
  • History: how far back expired jobs go, and whether they are deduplicated
  • Price per 1,000 jobs at real monthly volumes, not just the entry tier
  • Delivery and integrations: API, webhooks, files, no-code tools
